Set up your email
Done in a few minutes. Always choose IMAP, copy the settings below, and your mail is on all your devices. If it does not work, you can always use webmail.
These are the settings
Keep this table open while you set up your mail. The last column shows what it looks like for the example address jan@bakkerijdevries.nl. Fill in your own email address and password.
| What does your mail app ask? | What you fill in | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Account type | IMAP | IMAP (so not POP or POP3) |
| Username | Your full email address | jan@bakkerijdevries.nl |
| Password | The password of your email address | The password of jan@bakkerijdevries.nl |
| Incoming server (IMAP) | mail.zxcs.nl | mail.zxcs.nl |
| Incoming port | 993 | 993, security SSL/TLS |
| Outgoing server (SMTP) | mail.zxcs.nl | mail.zxcs.nl |
| Outgoing port | 465 | 465, security SSL/TLS |
| Outgoing server requires sign-in? | Yes, with the same username and password | jan@bakkerijdevries.nl and the same password |
Does your app ask for security or encryption? Choose SSL or SSL/TLS, for both incoming and outgoing.
Choose your mail app
Click the app you use. The steps then appear. Everywhere the same applies: choose IMAP and fill in the settings from the table.
Choose your mail app above and the steps will appear.
Outlook
For the new Outlook on Windows and Mac. If you use classic Outlook, choose File and Add Account, type your email address, click Advanced options, tick Let me set up my account manually and click Connect.
- Open Outlook and click the gear icon (Settings).
- Go to Accounts and, under Email accounts, click Add account.
- Type your email address and click Continue.
- Does Outlook ask what kind of account it is? Choose IMAP.
- Enter your password. If Outlook asks for server settings, fill in: incoming server mail.zxcs.nl, port 993, SSL/TLS; outgoing server mail.zxcs.nl, port 465, SSL/TLS.
- Click Continue. After a few seconds your mail appears.
iPhone and iPad
- Open Settings, tap Apps and then Mail. On an older iPhone, Mail is directly in Settings.
- Tap Mail Accounts and then Add Account.
- Tap Add Other Account and then Mail Account. On an older iPhone this is Other and then Add Mail Account.
- Enter your name, email address and password and tap Next. Then tap IMAP at the top.
- Under Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server, fill in both: host name mail.zxcs.nl, user name your full email address, and your password.
- Tap Next and then Save. If sending does not work later, check in the account settings that the outgoing server uses port 465 with SSL.
Mail on the Mac
- Open Mail and choose Mail and then Add Account in the menu at the top.
- Choose the option for another mail account at the bottom of the list and click Continue.
- Enter your name, email address and password and click Sign In.
- If you get a message that the name or password is wrong, extra fields appear. Choose IMAP as account type and fill in mail.zxcs.nl for both incoming and outgoing server, with your full email address as user name.
- Click Sign In and then Done.
Gmail app on your phone
This works in the Gmail app on Android and iPhone. Gmail on the computer (gmail.com) does not fetch mail from other addresses; use webmail there.
- Open the Gmail app and tap your profile photo at the top right.
- Tap Add another account. On Android choose Other, on iPhone Other (IMAP).
- Type your full email address and tap Next.
- Android only: choose Personal (IMAP), enter your password and tap Next.
- Incoming server: mail.zxcs.nl, port 993, security SSL/TLS. Outgoing server: mail.zxcs.nl, port 465, security SSL/TLS. The username is always your full email address.
- Tap Next until your mail appears.
Samsung and other Android phones
For the mail app that is already on your phone, such as Samsung Email.
- Open the mail app, tap the menu at the top left (three lines) and then the gear icon (Settings). Tap Add account and choose Other.
- Enter your email address and password and tap Manual setup.
- Choose IMAP account.
- Incoming server: mail.zxcs.nl, port 993, SSL/TLS. Outgoing server: mail.zxcs.nl, port 465, SSL/TLS. The username is your full email address.
- Tap Connect (Sign in on some phones). Your mail appears after a few seconds.
Another app
Thunderbird, eM Client or another app: it works the same way everywhere.
- Choose Add account and then set up manually.
- Choose IMAP, not POP.
- Copy the settings from the table at the top: server mail.zxcs.nl, port 993 for incoming and 465 for outgoing, both SSL/TLS.
- Use your full email address as username for incoming and outgoing, with the same password.
Menus can have slightly different names per version. The settings always stay the same.
You can always use webmail
Is your mail app not working for a moment, or are you on another computer? Through webmail you read and send your mail in the browser, without setting anything up: mail.zxcs.nl.
The three most common errors
- Wrong password. First sign in to webmail. If that works, the password is right and the error is in the username: use your full email address.
- Server not found. Check that it says exactly mail.zxcs.nl, without spaces and without www in front.
- Receiving works, sending does not. Set the outgoing server to port 465 with SSL/TLS and turn on sign-in for the outgoing server, with the same details.

Good to know
With IMAP your mail stays on the server. That way you see the same mail on your phone, laptop and in webmail, and a read or deleted message is read or deleted everywhere. With POP one device usually downloads the mail and removes it from the server, so you no longer see it on the other devices.
Contact us at 085 - 002 2208 or via WhatsApp and we will help you. Then enter the new password on all your devices, otherwise they keep asking for a password.
Then the outgoing server is not right yet. Use mail.zxcs.nl with port 465 and security SSL/TLS, and turn on that the outgoing server requires sign-in, with your full email address and the same password.
No. Gmail on gmail.com does not fetch mail from other addresses: it never could through IMAP, and since January 2026 it no longer can through POP either. On the computer, use webmail (mail.zxcs.nl) or an app like Outlook or Mail. On your phone the Gmail app does work.
Yes, that is exactly why we use IMAP. Set up your mail with the same settings on every device; everything stays the same everywhere.
Yes. Remove the old account from your mail app and set it up again as IMAP. To be safe, first make a copy of any mail that is only on that one device.
